About me

David Moyer recently celebrated his 60th birthday, and in reflecting on his life, he told me that he's had an exciting musical career, that began at the age of 4 and is still going strong today. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, in 1950 to parents John and Caroline Moyer. His father was in the Korean war, so they moved around a lot, living in Bismarck, North Dakota (his mother's home), relocating to Camp Polk, Louisiana, then to Fort Huachuca, Arizona, and finally settling in Spokane, Washington in 1955.  David attended Sacred Heart grade school in the first grade, and then attended the newly completed Our Lady of Fatima grade school through 1964. During that time, he actively sang in church, as part of the children's choir, and as a soloist. He performed in several plays as an actor and singer. He also studied piano and flute under the baton of Sister Reparata. He went to high school at Gonzaga Prep, which interestingly enough, was the same school (under the name Gonzaga High School) that the legendary Bing Crosby attended. While in high school, David played multiple roles in musicals and dramas. His greatest achievement was playing Barnaby Goodchild in the musical Sing Out Sweet Land, which had the biggest cast in the history of Spokane.

He met Cathi during one of the high school productions. She was the pianist for the musicals, and they both sang in a combined men's and women's group of Mary Cliff High School and Gonzaga Prep students.

Upond gradutating in 1968, he received the Drama Club award. He then continued his studies in college for 5 years, beginning at Gonzaga University (1968-1970) and graduating from Whitworth college with a B.A. in Music Education and Performance in 1973. His national and international performance work includes The New Christy Minstrels (1980-1983) and Fred Waring's Pensylvanians (1974-1975).
