David graduated from Whitworth College in 1973. However, he had already auditioned for Fred Waring and the Pensylvanians in 1972. When he did not get a callback for a final audition, he asked himself "WHY?". David said "Couldn't they have just sent me a Dear John or a No Thanks?". So, in 1973, David through a series of people who knew people who knew the Pensylavanians who knew the Warings, found out that he had been asked to join the Pensylvanians. On that fateful day, when his home was called (he was still living with his parents), his young sister Peggy, about 8 years old, answered the phone. Ray Sax Schroeder, manager for the Pensylavnians, was on the other end. He asked, "May I speak with David Moyer?", to which Peggy replied, "David isn't here, and I'm too busy watching the Micky Mouse Club, so goodbye.", and hung up. Since about 20,000 people for each member of the 30 singers in the Pensylvanians are audition each year, Ray didn't bother to call back. So after much work to set an audition again, David auditioned in 1974. Guess what happened? Nothing. So he gave it up and went back to performing in Spokane. About 6 months later, he answered the phone this time, and it was Ray, and David was hired. So, David Moyer was a member of Fred Warings Pensylvanians in 1974 and 1975. And "dats da name a dat tune".
